A pass,
A crack,
My windshield is splitting.
I order a part,
I will need a fitting.
When I leave,
There's a call
A car bill for the daughter
Onward we go
Stretching every dollar.
Some repairs this coming week,
Some are only "recommended"
That will have to wait
Until my account has unbended
From the crunch of tuition,
Of mortgage,
Of winter power.
Evening ends with senior's concert
Of over an hour.
Last time,
Last songs,
Soon she'll move away.
And I'll wait for the calls
Of the "bill of the day."
I've always had more love than money.
A crack,
My windshield is splitting.
I order a part,
I will need a fitting.
When I leave,
There's a call
A car bill for the daughter
Onward we go
Stretching every dollar.
Some repairs this coming week,
Some are only "recommended"
That will have to wait
Until my account has unbended
From the crunch of tuition,
Of mortgage,
Of winter power.
Evening ends with senior's concert
Of over an hour.
Last time,
Last songs,
Soon she'll move away.
And I'll wait for the calls
Of the "bill of the day."
I've always had more love than money.
